Knockdolian Estate Fishing

KNOCKDOLIAN  ESTATE

is situated in the peaceful, unspoilt countryside of South West Scotland.  The Estate offers accommodation with salmon and sea trout fishing on its own stretch of the River Stinchar.  Local attractions include historic Culzean  Castle and Country Park.  The Galloway Forest Park provides scope for clycling, nature trails and other outdoor activites.  There are also  excellent links golf courses, including Turnberry, a short drive away, and many quiet sandy coves along the nearby coast.

Fishing the River Stinchar

The Stinchar is essentially a spate river, but can produce excellent sport in the right conditions.  The main runs of grilse, salmon and sea trout occur from July to October.  The Estate lets 3 miles of the river (both banks) which is divided into seven beats with at least two named pools in each.  The fishing is by fly only and anglers are encouraged to voluntarily return fish where possible.  The beats are close to the sea, which means that in good water they will often hold fresh run fish.

Tackle

Rods – the beats can be fished easily with 12’ – 14’ rods, with floating, intermediate or sinking line depending on conditions.

Availability

Day tickets and weekly lets (with or without guaranteed pools), are available, with ghillies by prior arrangement.
